On September 17, 2024, The NGO Forum on Cambodia (NGOF) in collaboration with (CAWF), with technical and financial support from Oxfam and the Swedish government’s Diakonia, organized a sub-national forum under the theme: “Promoting the Implementation of Social Protection and Workplace Safety in the Banana and Rubber Agro-Industrial Sector” under the patronage of HE Ung Chhay, Deputy Governor of the Provincial Government, represented by HE the Governor of Kampot Province, representatives of relevant departments, representatives of civil society organizations, representatives of employers, and workers, with a total of 37 participants, 13 of whom were women.
The forum was organized with the aim of increasing awareness of the needs and challenges of workers in the banana and rubber agro-industry sector regarding their fundamental rights, social protection, and workplace safety principles, as well as encouraging relevant parties to pay attention to the challenges and needs of social protection and safety equipment during the work of workers in the banana and rubber agro-industry sector. and rubber and is a platform for workers in the banana and rubber plantation sectors to raise their challenges to decision-makers, including the relevant departments and employers, to participate in providing solutions to workers.
