Phnom Penh, July 17, 2014: A half-day meeting was conducted between the NGO Forum on Cambodia and the General Directorate of Agriculture (GDA) to update each side on the Draft Law on the Use and Management of Agricultural Land working progress.

 

The representatives attended the meeting during the time were H.E SO Khan Rithykun, Government delegation and Director General of GDA, Dr. PHEAV Sovuthy, Director of Department of Agricultural Land Resource Management, Mr. TEK Vannara, Executive Director of NGO Forum on Cambodia, Mr. SIN Sokhomony, Agriculture Policies Monitoring Project Coordinator and Ms. Touch Setha, Land Security Project Coordinator.

Public Consultation Workshop on a new Draft Law on Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA)

Public Consultation Workshop on EIA draft law Final1

Phnom Penh, May 23, 2014: Approximately of 50 participants from related organizations including representatives from Ministry of Environment (MoE), Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), NGOs, researchers, law specialists and academies were assemble for the Public Consultation Workshop on a new Draft Law on Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA). This one-day event, organized by The NGO Forum on Cambodia, took place at Phnom Penh Ecumenical Diakonia Centre (PPEDC).

The main objectives of this workshop were to discuss, evaluate and comments and provide recommendations on the EIA draft law, to fetch together opinions and recommendations from International and National and International CSOs at a national level upon the draft law before submitting to MoE for evaluation and revision on the contents, and lastly to learn for deeply understanding about EIA draft Law.

Mission to Build a Better Place for Cambodia

Inside the office room of the NGO Forum on Cambodia, Mr. Tek Vannara is on his regularly working schedule including checking, responding and verifying on various documentations from different programs to assure the proficiently progress in the NGO Forum on Cambodia (NGOF). In time, he would receive phone calls from colleagues and stakeholders seeking for the meeting, discussion and advices related to work.

Through the fair and clear recruitment process, Vannara, 33-year old, by his talent, educational background and working experience, was selected and appointed to be an official Executive Director of NGOF affected from 17th February 2014 onward.

Phnom Penh, April 29 – 30, 2014: Ms. Flavia Pansieri, the UNDeputy High Commissioner for Human Rights, and approximately 140 participants from the Royal Government of Cambodia (RGC), NGOs, International Organizations, UN agencies, Development Partners and Indigenous People from the Communities of Kompong Speu, Preah Vihear, Rattankiri, Mondulkiri, Koh Kong, Battambang came to attend a two-day National Reflection Workshop on “Identification, Legal Entity and Land Registration for Indigenous Communities in Cambodia”.

 

The two-day national seminar aimed to give opportunities to all participants to meet and discuss current challenges in communal and collective land registration such as the lengthy and complicated process, and to identify ways to speed up collective land registration. Also discussed was how to issue collective titles according to international and domestic laws, policies and regulations.
